After partnering with the ‘Djoker’ in 2014, the German tennis legend guided him to six Grand Slam triumphs on the tour. However, despite enjoying some major success together, the collaboration came to an end just after three seasons.

Emphasizing his split in an interview with the Lequipe, Boris Becker said, “Three years together, where we win everything, repeatedly…. Let’s say the book was written. I think he was tired, he took a break and I took one too. The perfect love story was coming to an end. There was nothing more.”

Apart from this, the former tennis ace’s stint as the technical director of tennis in Germany also affected his partnership with the Serb. He added, “At the same time, I became technical director of tennis in Germany, which no one talked about much. I wasn’t withdrawing from tennis, I spent a lot of time with the young Zverev, with the Davis Cup team for four years.”

Becker’s split with Djokovic, however, didn’t put an end to the former’s coaching stint, as he is now partnered with another ATP superstar.
