NFL Odds Week 12: Betting Tips after Friday’s Injury Reports and Practice News

Injuries have thoroughly changed the NFL landscape in 2023. From Aaron Rodgers’ Week 1 Achilles tear to Joe Burrow’s Week 11 season-ending wrist injury, we’ve seen many of the league’s biggest stars go down.
Injuries will again play a role in the outcomes of Week 12.
Notable players already ruled out this week include Jerick McKinnon, Tee Higgins, Denzel Ward, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Cam Taylor-Britt, Lavonte David and Jamel Dean.
Here, we’ll dive into the updated injury reports and practice information to identify a few bets we like heading into rest the weekend.
Trust the Titans -3.5 Versus the Panthers

The Carolina Panthers haven’t been competitive often this season, and they’re dealing with a couple of notable injuries—tight end Hayden Hurst and cornerback C.J. Henderson remain in the concussion protocol and won’t play.
The biggest issue for the Panthers, though, is the inconsistent play of rookie quarterback Bryce Young. Saddled with a lackluster supporting cast and a very basic offensive scheme, the No. 1 overall pick has not lived up to his draft status.
The other big issue for Carolina is a run defense allowing 4.3 yards per carry. That could be a game-altering problem against Derrick Henry, Tyjae Spears and Tennessee’s ground game.
Will Levis is just 1-3 as the Titans’ starter, but he’s out-played Young and has added more downfield opportunities to Tennessee’s offense. A heavy dose of Henry, some timely play-action and a stout defensive front should be enough to net the Titans a win.
Tennessee has yet to win a road game this season, but it is 3-0 at Nissan Stadium. Expect a fairly convincing victory as the Titans kick off a two-week home stand.
Take the Rams -2.5 at the Cardinals

The Los Angeles Rams had some serious injury concerns at receiver early in the week, as Cooper Kupp (ankle) and Puka Nacua (shoulder) were on the injury report. However, Kupp returned to practice on a limited basis, while Nacua became a full participant late in the week.
“Kupp will play Sunday against Cardinals, coach Sean McVay said,” Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford is also another week removed from the thumb injury that caused him to miss Week 9. With running back Kyren Williams also set to return from injured reserve (ankle), L.A. should be close to full strength offensively against the Arizona Cardinals.
Arizona has been a fairly competitive team since quarterback Kyler Murray returned to the lineup, but a defense allowing 4.2 yards per carry and 6.4 net yards per pass attempt remains a liability.
The playoffs are still a possibility for the 4-6 Rams, and head coach Sean McVay knows how to attack divisional foes. Expect maximum effort from the Rams, and while they may not win convincingly, the line is small enough that they should cover.
Take the Bears and Vikings over 43 Points

Minnesota Vikings star receiver Justin Jefferson remains limited with the hamstring injury that landed him on injured reserve, and the Vikings aren’t going to rush him back.
“We have urgency to win this football game,” head coach Kevin O’Connell said, per Mark Craig of the Star Tribune. “We’re just not going to allow that to distract us from the fact that we started out with some really strong principles in making sure Justin was at a good place and 100% healthy when he returns.”
A return for Monday night’s matchup with the Chicago Bears feels unlikely, though that shouldn’t stop this game from featuring plenty of scoring. The Vikings still have dual-threat quarterback Joshua Dobbs, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson and Ty Chandler with whom to attack Chicago’s 29th-ranked scoring offense.
The Bears, meanwhile, have recently been getting solid play from quarterback Justin Fields when he’s been healthy. Over Fields’ last three complete games, Chicago has scored 28, 40 and 26 points.
Now’s a great time to jump on the over because if Jefferson is activated from IR, the line will rise significantly.
