Bobby Green has congratulated Jalin Turner for his performance in his knockout win against him in the UFC Austin co-main event late on Saturday night. 

Referee Kerry Hatley was severely criticsed after the bout for permitting Turner to land a series of unanswered strikes to Green after he had been dropped in the first round of their contest, with UFC commentator Daniel Cormier describing it as one of the worst stoppages he had ever seen in his time in the sport.

UFC CEO Dana White, too, was critical of Hatley’s performance but declined to go too deep in his post-fight comments to the media after explaining that Hatley had expressed remorse for his performance backstage.

But as far as Green is concerned, there are certainly no hard feelings.

“What up, guys?” Green said in a message posted to Instagram. “You win some, you lose some. I guess I want to show people that you’ve got to keep it G and you’ve got to keep it G when you lose.

“Shout out to Jalin, you did your thing, brother. I’m so happy for you. It means the world that you stepped up on short notice and you had your success, so shout out to you. To all my people, it’s just another step in the thing, you know. Another step in the career. There’s ups, there’s downs, I’m a keep it going. I’m not going nowhere. Love you, guys.”

The defeat, which was Green’s fifth KO loss in his 48-fight career, snapped an impressive streak of victories which came against former interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and rising contender Grant Dawson. By contrast, Turner gets back into the win column after losing his last two fights to Dan Hooker and Mateusz Gamrot — both by split decision. The 28-year-old is now 14-7 in his overall mixed martial arts career.
