WATCH: Caitlin Clark Goes Viral for Staring Down WNBA Official During Fever’s Clash vs. Angel Reese’s Sky

It was late on June 7, and the United Center was electric with anticipation for the latest chapter in the budding Clark–Reese rivalry. Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky had already faced off with Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever once this season. It was on Fever’s homecourt and Clark had scored her career’s third triple-double that night (May 17) as she led her team to a 93–58 win against the Sky.

Then, the Fever rookie sustained a quad injury following her game against the New York Liberty on May 24. She was sidelined from the following matches as per her recovery demands. But without Clark on the floor, Indiana suffered a lot, failing to grab a win. Somehow, they managed to win against the Washington Mystics on June 3. Their luck followed them to Saturday’s clash as Fever won 79–52 against Reese’s squad.

Meanwhile, amidst an ongoing game, the sidelined Clark locked eyes with a game official on June 7. The clip from the United Center spread like wildfire across social media, transcending the final score and instantly becoming the most talked-about moment of the night.

Caitlin Clark’s Icy Stare at Official Steals Spotlight in Fever’s Win over Sky

Clark, nursing a left quadriceps strain since May 26, had been limited to courtside support, but her competitive spirit was unmistakable. As a foul went uncalled on Reese in the paint, the WNBA All-Star rose from her seat, pivoted, and fixed the official with a look that left even seasoned referees momentarily speechless. At that time, Indiana was 42–30.

Fans erupted, cameras rolled, and the clip soon amassed millions of views. In the third quarter, she was seen celebrating when Reese earned a foul for a clear travel.

But while the theatrics off the court dominated the highlights reel, on the hardwood, the Fever were methodically dismantling the Sky. Kelsey Mitchell poured in 17 points, and Natasha Howard added 13 as Indiana never trailed in a convincing 79–52 victory. The Fever’s balanced attack showcased their depth. Aliyah Boston chipped in 11, Sydney Colson scored six, Lexie Hull contributed nine, and Aari McDonald made 12 points.

With Clark sidelined, the Fever’s resilience was put to the test. The team responded by executing crisp offensive sets and stifling Chicago’s rhythm. Indiana shot 45.8% from the field as a collective unit, forcing 19 Chicago turnovers. Even without their superstar on the court, the Fever refused to let the spotlight slip away.

The Sky searched for answers. Reese contributed four points and grabbed 12 rebounds in 27 minutes, but struggled to ignite her usual inside presence against a disciplined Fever defense. The Sky is now 2–5 on the season. For the Fever, this win improved their record to 4–4 and marked their second straight victory without Clark.

As for Clark, the injury setback has not dimmed her impact on the league. She is expected to return to court by June 10 against the Atlanta Dream if everything goes well with her recovery pace.
