Saints sign former Titans LG Dillon Radunz

Saints sign former Titans LG Dillon Radunz

Last week, it was announced that the New Orleans Saints were set to meet with free-agent offensive guard Dillon Radunz. Since being drafted by the Tennessee Titans, Radunz has had an up-and-down start to his career. Still, the offensive lineman had the talent and potential to be a solid starter in this league. With the Saints having a hole at LG, a deal here made sense for both sides and today, it was announced that the Saints have officially signed Dillon Radunz on a one-year deal.

The numbers on this deal have not been released, but getting Radunz for one-year is a smart move by the Saints. Going into the NFL Draft without a starter at LG is extremely risky, and by signing Radunz, the team is no longer forced to draft an offensive lineman with a premium pick. This flexibility is a perfect thing to have when drafting, but the Saints should still select a guard prospect to compete with Radunz in training camp. If that prospect beats out Radunz, then the Saints now have a rookie starting guard that they can rely on for the future. If the prospect loses out, then he can sit behind Radunz for a year and develop to be the starter next season.
