Pittsburgh Steelers WR Ben Skowronek suffered a possible head injury in the team’s preseason finale against the Buffalo Bills. Following a kickoff after a Steelers touchdown in the first quarter, Skowronek was walked off the field by a trainer after potentially being pointed at by the concussion spotter.

Skowronek is expected to once again play a key special teams role for the Steelers, as he has since joining the team. He’s served as a depth receiver for the team but his primary role has been on special teams, making the Pro Bowl as a special teamer last season.

Per Steelers.com’s Brian Batko, Skowronek headed to the locker room after leaving the field.

If Skowronek did indeed suffer a concussion, the hope is that it won’t impact his availability for Week 1, but his night and preseason appear to be over. The Steelers are shorthanded at receiver tonight, with DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson all not playing.

Skowronek caught four passes for 69 yards and a touchdown last season while serving as the primary gunner on punt coverage. He also made 21 total tackles with 11 solo tackles en route to his Pro Bowl nod.
