The Green Bay Packers got some good news following Jordan Love‘s MRI on Monday.

Tests revealed Love suffered a strained groin which puts him in a day-to-day consideration, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported, per sources.

Pelissero added that Love has a shot to play in Sunday’s crucial Week 9 matchup against the visiting Detroit Lions.

Love exited Sunday’s win over the Jaguars early in the third quarter due to the groin injury and was later ruled out. Up until that point, Love, who missed two games with this season with a knee sprain, had seemed to be favoring that same left leg for a good majority of the game.

Love was 14-of-22 passing for 196 yards and threw one interception before his early exit. Backup Malik Willis, who entered the game with a 13-10 deficit, led the Packers to a 30-27 win in relief.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said after the win that there was a “high level of concern” for Green Bay’s franchise quarterback, but Pelissero reported later Sunday night that there was optimism within the organization that Love avoided a long-term injury.

That optimistic view on Love rang true following Monday’s MRI. It remains to be seen at what capacity Love can prepare leading up to Sunday’s pivotal NFC North battle against the Lions, but Green Bay can breathe a sigh of relief.
