Chris Curtis will be stepping up on short notice to rematch Brendan Allen in the main event of UFC Vegas 90.

It was revealed on Thursday that Marvin Vettori was out of his main event fight against Allen. After the news broke, Allen took to Instagram to call out several middleweights ranked ahead of him like Jared Cannonier and Robert Whittaker.

However, the UFC announced on social media on Friday that Chris Curtis has stepped up to replace Marvin Vettori and will face Brendan Allen for a second time next month. The event will take place on April 6 at the UFC Apex.

Curtis and Allen first fought UFC Vegas 44 in December of 2021. Originally, Allen was booked to face Roman Doldize but the Georgian was forced out of the bout, so Curtis stepped up on short notice and scored an upset second-round TKO win in just his second UFC fight.

Since their first meeting, Allen has gone on to win six fights in a row while Curtis is 3-2 and one No Contest.

Brendan Allen (23-5) is on a six-fight winning streak and coming off a submission win over Paul Craig. Allen is currently ranked sixth at middleweight and before the win over Craig, he submitted Bruno Silva. Allen is 11-2 in the UFC and also holds notable wins over Kevin Holland, Andre Muniz, and Tom Breese among others.

Chris Curtis (31-10 and one No Contest) is coming off a split decision win over Marc-Andre Barriault at UFC 297 in January. Before that, he had a No Contest against Nassourdine Imavov after dropping a decision to Kelvin Gastelum. Curtis is ranked 14th at middleweight and is 5-2 and one NC in the UFC as he his other wins over Allen, Rodolfo Vieira, Joaquin Buckley, and Phil Hawes.
