Thursday Night Football: Patriots vs. Jets

Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season will kickoff with a Thursday Night Football matchup featuring the New England Patriots (1-1) on the road against the New York Jets (1-1).

The Patriots lead the all-time series between these two AFC teams, 72-54-1, and have won 15 of their 16 most recent meetings. The Jets, however, won 17-3, on the road, when they last faced off back in January 2024. New England leads the postseason series, as well, 2-1.

There aren’t a bunch of former Eagles suiting up in this game, and there’s even one less option this week. Jalen Reagor spent the first two games of the season on the Patriots practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster, but after he decided to post some not-so-subtle shade on IG (see below), the team decided to cut him altogether.

Both the Patriots and Jets have things to sort out if either looks to make a postseason run, but for the time being, the Jets seem like the team most poised to figure it out. Against my better judgement, the smart money seems to be on the Jets to take the win.

Here’s everything you need to know about tonight’s game.
