Carson Beck and the No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs are off to a 5-1 start to their season, but in Beck’s Senior season with the squad, NFL executives are beginning to doubt his ability to hold his own in the big leagues.

“He’s the type of passer that will always need top-tier protection and multiple weapons,” one assistant GM for an AFC team said according to ESPN’s Jordan Reid. “Look at how different that offense looks without [Brock] Bowers and [Ladd] McConkey.

Former Bulldogs Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey were key contributors to the team’s offense during their three-year run from 2021 to 2023, helping the team secure back-to-back championships alongside quarterback Beck.

Bowers, a tight end, averaged 63.5 receiving yards per game with 26 career touchdowns, while McConkey, a wide receiver, averaged 43.3 receiving yards per game with 14 career touchdowns.

Without the support of these two offensive powerhouses, Beck’s legacy might have turned out quite differently.

This season, Beck has a solid offense behind him but lacks the star power he had in previous years, raising questions about his ability to be a leading quarterback in the NFL if he cannot elevate lower-level players.

“Uplifting lower-level talent will always be a challenge for him, and that worries me about taking him early, especially if he goes to a bad team.”

Beck is completing 67.9 percent of his passes this season, his lowest in two years, while rushing for 9.5 yards per game, the highest of his career, as he’s been forced to create opportunities with less offensive support. He has also thrown five interceptions in six games this season, compared to just six interceptions over the entire previous year.

Beck will continue to build his NFL resume as the Bulldogs face their toughest challenge of the season against No. 1 Texas on Saturday.
