Eagles vs. Panthers: How to watch, game time, odds, history and more

The Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) are on an eight-game win streak, and are finally back at home in Week 14 to take on the Carolina Panthers (3-9) on Sunday at 1:00 PM ET.

There’s been a lot of talk this week about whether this is a trap game for the Eagles — who are nearly two touchdown favorites over the Panthers. But, the team is maintaining their routine, regardless of opponent, and are pretty strict in that aspect heading into this stage of the season. Head coach Nick Sirianni said they aren’t thinking about last season’s collapse anymore, but there’s no doubt that what they went through is shaping their approach this year.

The Eagles’ offense should be in good shape on Sunday against the Panthers. They’ve been running through their opponent each week thanks to Saquon Barkley, and Jalen Hurts, and Kenny Gainwell, and Carolina boasts one of the worst run defenses in the league. Philly will be without Dallas Goedert, who was placed on IR, but signed TE E.J. Jenkins from the practice squad to the active roster. Plus, the Eagles get DeVonta Smith back from a hamstring injury that kept him sidelined for two weeks.

There was some good news for the defense too, with Darius Slay returning after the concussion he suffered against the Rams. Slay’s return will be big, because Reed Blankenship will miss the Panthers game, leaving his role to Tristin McCollum. The young safety did a good job last week when he came in for Blankenship, and was able to affect the game in several ways.

Carolina QB Bryce Young has been thriving the past few weeks after stepping back into the starting role, and shouldn’t be overlooked. The Eagles defense will need to continue playing clean, disciplined football if they want to extend their win streak.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the game.

History Lesson

The Eagles lead the all-time series between these teams, 8-4, but the away team has won their past three meetings. They last faced off back in 2021, with the Eagles winning on the road, 21-18. Philly and Carolina have also met once in the postseason, back in the NFC Championship in 2004, with the Panthers winning 14-3 to move on to the Super Bowl.

Against the Panthers in 2021, Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts finished 22-of-37 attempts for 198 passing yards, plus 30 rushing yards and two TDs. Hurts was also sacked twice, threw one interception, and had a fumble. So, it wasn’t the cleanest game by the quarterback, but he was able to lead the team to a win.
