Randy Orton Hands Over His Iconic Gimmick to Another Star Days Before WWE Backlash
Randy Orton has gone by various names over the years, from The Apex Predator to The Viper, but he has decided to hand over his most iconic gimmick to another star this week.
Randy Orton Has Handed Over The Legend Killer Gimmick
The WWE veteran gained the name of The Legend Killer earlier on in his career when he showcased a lack of respect for some of the biggest names in WWE. The likes of Mick Foley, Hulk Hogan, and The Undertaker were all targets of Orton as he was developing his career. This gimmick played a big part in him becoming the star that he is today.
However, the 45-year-old has seemingly handed that moniker over to a new star in the Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard, Anthony Edwards. Orton shared some artwork of himself passing a “Legend Killer” necklace to the NBA star, seemingly being impressed by his recent performances.

Orton himself is now seen as a legend of the wrestling business as one of the oldest members of the WWE roster and someone who has held 14 World titles throughout his career. Nowadays, it is younger wrestlers trying to take him out in a bid to make a name for themselves, which Joe Hendry attempted to do at WWE WrestleMania 41.
Randy Orton Might Bring The Legend Killer Back at WWE Backlash
Randy Orton might have given his Legend Killer gimmick away, but he will need to channel that version of himself at WWE Backlash when he challenges his old rival John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event of the premium live event.
The show is taking place in his hometown of St. Louis, which will lead to The Viper enjoying massive support. However, the WWE SmackDown Superstar is attempting to pull the title away from Cena and bring it back to the company.
The Hollywood megastar has claimed he’s going to take the title with him when he retires at the end of the year, effectively ending its lineage and the history that surrounds it at the same time. Cena is attempting to be the last real Undisputed WWE Champion, and Orton is going to be the first man to step up to try and stop him.
This will be Cena’s first title defense, and Orton will want to prove he still has a little of The Legend Killer within him to get the job done and become a 15-time World Champion in the process.
