Rapoport: Ravens Trading For Titans OLB Dre’Mont Jones

Earlier this offseason, the Baltimore Ravens dealt away EDGE Odafe Oweh. Still, after two straight wins, the team is adding another pass-rusher, acquiring OLB Dre’Mont Jones from the Tennessee Titans, per NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Baltimore gave up a conditional fifth-round pick that could become a fourth-rounder for Jones.

The Ravens mark the fourth team Jones has played for in his career. He began his career with the Denver Broncos, spending four seasons with Denver after being drafted in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks before the 2023 season. He spent two years with Seattle before joining the Titans in free agency this offseason, but with Tennessee in sell mode, Jones is on his way to Baltimore.

Jones began his career as a defensive lineman before slimming down and moving to outside linebacker last season, his final year with Seattle. He has 4.5 sacks this season, all of which have come in his last four games.

For his career, Jones has 236 tackles and 35 sacks. He’ll help Baltimore supplement the loss of Oweh and join an EDGE group that includes rookie Mike Green and Kyle Van Noy.

The Steelers have yet to play the Ravens this season, but they’ll face Baltimore in Weeks 14 and 18. If he remains healthy, they’ll have to plan for Jones, who should factor into Baltimore’s defense now and be fully acclimated by the time they play the Steelers.

The addition of Jones is also a sign that the Ravens, at 3-5, are buying ahead of the deadline. While the 5-3 Steelers currently lead the AFC North, Baltimore just got QB Lamar Jackson healthy in Week 9. With Jackson, the Ravens are looking to make a run to get back in postseason contention.

Even though they traded Oweh, they received S Alohi Gilman back in the deal, and Gilman has helped solidify the back end of Baltimore’s defense. They’re hoping that Jones can help provide more pressure up front, and he’s been on a hot streak recently that he’ll look to carry over to Baltimore.
