The Eagles All Pro right tackle could land on IR, but early thoughts are he’ll be able to return this season.

Early in the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 11 game against the Detroit Lions, All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson slowly made his way to the locker room with a foot injury. On Monday, it was reported that Johnson likely suffered a Lisfranc sprain and could miss 4-6 weeks — while that wouldn’t make the injury season-ending, it would likely land him on injured reserve through most of the back-half of the regular season.

However, that timetable is still very much in question, with Jeff McLane reporting on Tuesday that due to inflammation in his foot, Johnson hasn’t been able to get X-rays yet to determine if his injury requires season-ending surgery. It could be another week or so until they know more definitively.

Months ago the Eagles made a move to bring back veteran swing tackle Fred Johnson, and it’s certainly paying off. He’s been able to take the field in place of Lane several times throughout the season, and will now step into a bigger role with Lane sidelined. Fred has done as well as possible for someone stepping into the shoes of one of the best to ever play the position.

Hopefully Lane is able to make a full recovery and come out of this feeling better than he has all season — just in time for an Eagles playoff run.
