March Madness Sweet 16 schedule, how to watch: Keep up with the second weekend of the NCAA tournament

The first weekend of the men’s NCAA tournament is in the books.

Three of the four No. 1 seeds made it through to the Sweet 16 this March. The lone outlier was Florida, last year’s national champion. The Gators fell to No. 9 Iowa on Sunday night in one of the biggest upsets of the tournament so far. That sent the Hawkeyes into the second weekend of the tournament for the first time since 1999. They’ll take on Nebraska next in Houston, with Illinois and Houston waiting on the other side.

The other major upset came from No. 11 Texas, which made it through from the First Four and into the second weekend of the tournament after a huge win over Gonzaga on Saturday night. That sent the Longhorns, who are apparently this March’s “Cinderella” team, into the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2023.

Duke, the No. 1 overall seed, will get St. John’s next weekend. The Red Storm beat Kansas on a buzzer-beater from Dylan Darling in their second-round game on Sunday afternoon. Both Arizona and Michigan made it safely into the next round, too.

The Sweet 16 will get started on Thursday, with the South and West regions going first. The other two will then take place on Friday. Here’s everything you need to know to keep up with and watch the next round of the tournament.
