Ronda Rousey has some big plans for the possible future of MVP MMA

MMA legend Ronda Rousey has some big plans for the possible future of MVP MMA, depending on how the first event plays out.

On Saturday night, Ronda Rousey will step into the cage and compete in mixed martial arts for the first time in almost 10 years. She will do so against Gina Carano, and the overwhelming expectation is that she will be able to pick up a win in her return to action. Of course, that’s going to be easier said than done.

Beyond just the fight, Rousey has been pretty open about wanting to find new ways to help the sport of MMA. She has been openly critical of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where she first made a name for herself, and it doesn’t appear as if she’s going to stop voicing her opinion on what’s happening over there.

In a recent interview, Rousey had the following to say about what she would implement if MVP MMA really starts to take off.

Rousey looks to the future for MVP MMA

“I would love to do through MVP — if we continued to do this — is make every single person at home a matchmaker. What fight do you want to see next? Who do you think would match up great? Put on great fights for the sake of great fights.

“Titles and belts are almost constricting or they force fights that aren’t really great matchups. It should be about the fight itself,” she added.

“The future of the sport is not titles or brands. It’s these showcase fights. When you see people that are characters that stand out, that know how to captivate people, that’s something that needs to be nourished.”
