Cameras Capture Paige Bueckers’ Immediate Reaction After Connecticut Sun Player Said Something to the Dallas Wings Bench
In a game where Paige Bueckers scored six points despite playing 25 minutes, the Dallas Wings absolutely dominated the Connecticut Sun. Late in the game, when the lead looked too big to overcome, cameras caught a Sun forward saying something to Bueckers, leading her to laugh so hard she slid off her chair.

B/R W Sports posted a clip of the interaction that happened with just five minutes remaining in the blowout game, with Dallas already holding a major lead over Connecticut. Sun forward Diamond Miller had just knocked down a corner three-pointer despite a solid contest, and then turned around and gestured while speaking to the Wings bench, which had several starters sitting.
Whatever Miller said didn’t just amuse Paige Bueckers. It was clear a lot of the Wings players, including Azzi Fudd and Arike Ogunbowale, also thought it was hilarious, as they were seen smiling on the broadcast. Unfortunately for fans trying to solve the mystery, the broadcast didn’t pick up the sounds of the interaction, leaving everyone but the Dallas bench guessing what was actually said.
Fans who have followed either of their careers know the two WNBA players certainly have history. They played together on the Women’s USA U19 squad for the 2019 FIBA World Cup, when they beat Australia 74-70 in the Finals.
Meanwhile, Dallas snapped their two-game losing streak, with Jessica Shepard and Ogunbowale leading the team in scoring with 15 points each. Fudd was a deadeye from beyond the arc, adding all of her 12 points with four made threes.
However, Bueckers, who often leads the team, had a surprisingly quiet night, making only three of her nine field goal attempts. To be fair, Dallas didn’t need much from its star guard, especially after the Wings broke open the game with a dominant 20-2 run late in the third quarter, which turned the Wings’ solid 9-point lead to an almost insurmountable 72-45 scoreline.
The Sun didn’t recover despite their best efforts. That third quarter saw the team score just eight points while going 3-15 from the field during that decisive stretch.
To make things worse, Brittney Griner, the Sun’s leading scorer, missed her fourth straight game with a knee injury. The team also traded standout second-year forward Aneesah Morrow on July 31, 2026, ahead of the trade deadline.
It was a big game for Diamond Miller, though. Despite the loss, she scored a season-high 22 points, while Kennedy Burke added 14 of her own.
However, it wasn’t enough, and now Connecticut has lost yet another game, dropping to 7-23, only ahead of the Seattle Storm in the standings. Their game against the Dallas Wings was the last of a six-game road series in which they lost five games. In fact, this was their second clash and loss against the Wings this season.
