Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard will miss his team’s road game against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday with a left adductor strain, per the NBA’s official injury report.

It’s unclear where the injury originated, as Farbod Esnaashari of FanNation noted:

Kawhi Leonard’s adductor strain injury came pretty out nowhere. He seemed pretty okay yesterday, and most of the guys didn’t know anything about it last night. Hopefully, he’s fine after some All-Star break rest.

Leonard, who has averaged 24.1 points on 52.7 percent shooting, 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists, last played Monday versus the Minnesota Timberwolves. He scored 18 points in 30 minutes during the 121-100 loss.

The six-time All-Star leads a 35-17 Clippers team that entered Tuesday third in the Western Conference, just a game-and-a-half behind the first-place Timberwolves.

It’s been a great season for Clippers and the Leonard, who is finally enjoying a campaign of good health.

Injuries have been a factor for Leonard for more than a half-decade. He’s been load managed dating back to the 2018-19 season with the Toronto Raptors, on top of suffering a number of serious ailments along the way.

A torn ACL cost Leonard the entire 2021-22 season, and he’s not played more than 60 games since 2016-17.

This season has been a different story, though. In turn, he’s led a quartet also featuring Paul George, James Harden and Russell Westbrook that looks primed for a championship run if the team stays healthy.

The good news for Leonard and the Clippers is that the All-Star break is coming up, so he has time to rest until L.A. returns to the court on Feb. 22 for a pivotal road game at the second-place Oklahoma City Thunder.

However, it’s now unclear whether Leonard, a Western Conference All-Star reserve, will play in the All-Star Game. That matchup will take place on Sunday in Indianapolis.
