San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been the subject of trade rumors throughout the offseason, but general manager John Lynch is hoping that he won’t be going anywhere.

“Our wish is he is here for the rest of his career,” Lynch told reporters on Monday. “We are working through that.”

Aiyuk is entering the final year of his contract, and he will be making $14.1 million on the fifth-year option on his rookie deal. He has been hoping to receive a long-term deal this offseason, and despite the “good talks” Lynch said he’s been having with Aiyuk’s camp, an agreement has yet to be reached.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that the 49ers “rejected at least one overture regarding Aiyuk” earlier this offseason. As Thursday’s NFL draft quickly approaches, there’s reportedly a belief that there’s a chance the 26-year-old could be moved.

When asked if he’s received trade calls for Aiyuk, Lynch responded, “Sure. We receive calls for a lot of players.”

The 2020 first-round pick is coming off his second straight 1,000-yard season, leading San Francisco with a career-high 1,342 yards on 75 catches while adding seven touchdowns. He helped lead the 49ers to an appearance in Super Bowl LVIII where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 49ers already have 10 picks in the 2024 NFL draft, including six in the first four rounds. They own the 31st pick in the first round, so moving Aiyuk presumably would allow them to move up while also recouping further assets.

However, it sounds like Aiyuk will be staying put for the foreseeable future if Lynch achieves his goal.
