Michael Jordan Once Proved His Real Feelings for Scottie Pippen With Extravagant Gift Worth More Than $300K

The Chicago Bulls once had the most unstoppable team in the NBA. Considered by some to be the greatest dynasty in league history, the Michael Jordan era Bulls were a fruitful squad.

In addition to the impact that Jordan brought to the team, he also had a partner in crime that held up his end as well: Scottie Pippen, a former seven-time All-Star. Pippen was also named seven-time All-NBA and 10-time All-Defensive player during his prime, helping the Bulls win the NBA championship six times in eight seasons.

Jordan and Pippen, at the time, shared a close relationship as teammates, as evidenced by some of the positive moments in the documentary “The Last Dance.” Things haven’t been the best in their relationship recently, though, for multiple reasons — but once upon a time, Jordan showcased his generosity to his teammate.

Michael Jordan Gifted Scottie Pippen a Ferrari Now Valued at $331K

The Bulls were on the path to their fifth championship in seven seasons in 1997, and after they won the title by defeating the Utah Jazz, Pippen and Jordan celebrated their victory all the way into the next season.

When Christmas 1997 came, the two exchanged gifts — Jordan was looking to gift Pippen a box of cigars, but when he noticed the gift that Pippen made for him, he had a change of heart. Instead, the gift Jordan provided Pippen showcased their bond and brotherhood.

Pippen had always admired Jordan’s red Ferrari 550 Maranello, which reportedly prompted Jordan to instead give that car to Pippen as a gift. The car is now valued at $331,000, making it an expensive and extravagant gift. This level of brotherhood and camaraderie helped the Bulls become the dynasty they were.

Jordan and Pippen’s Relationship Over the Years

While Jordan and Pippen were once inseparable on the court, their relationship has since deteriorated. A major factor was “The Last Dance,” which Pippen felt downplayed his contributions to the Bulls’ success.

More recently, tensions escalated with Jordan’s son, Marcus, dating Pippen’s ex-wife, Larsa. Though their connection as teammates remains historic, their personal relationship has changed drastically.

Whether “The Last Dance” exposed an already growing divide or created new friction is up for debate. What’s undeniable is that during their playing days, Jordan and Pippen had an unmatched chemistry that led to six NBA championships. Their friendship may never be fully repaired, but their legacy as one of the greatest duos in basketball history is set in stone.
