Boston Red Sox outfielder Wilyer Abreu is going viral for an unbelievably confident ABS challenge he pulled off in the third inning of Boston’s spring training game against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.

Abreu took a 3-2 sinker up in the zone from Orioles right-hander Chris Bassitt that was called strike three. Almost immediately, Abreu bent down and took off his shin guard (customary for a walk) and signaled for a challenge all in one motion.
Not only this, but Abreu started strutting down the first base line before the challenge was reviewed.
When the results of the challenge came through, the strike call was ultimately overturned by ABS, but only by an inch or less. Abreu had been accurate in his assessment, but the margin was almost invisible.
Naturally, the whole ordeal had Boston’s clubhouse smiling, especially manager Alex Cora.

The Red Sox ended up winning the game, 8-7, pushing their Grapefruit League record to 5-4.
